The Annual General Meeting is an essential event in the life of the Alliance Française of Pondicherry.
The recent meeting was held on August 26, chaired by Dr. Nallam in the presence of Mr Rene Marollier, Deputy Consul, Mr Michel Houdayer, Director, the members of the Executive Committee and general members of the Alliance Française.
The President presented a general report and pointed out how the Alliance Française of Pondicherry has an important place in India and worldwide with its history, its reputation, the quality of its courses and programs. He paid warm tribute to the Director and thanked him for the leadership and discipline and dedication he has shown to maintain the excellence and reputation of the institution.
The Director presented the activity report and the financial statement of 2009-2010. It comes out clear from these reports that the Alliance Française is a thriving institution and has financial reserves, which suggests its further development with equanimity. Members took part in debates and comment on the report as well as decisions taken by the Alliance leadership.
The director answered to various questions and then presented the changes that were made to some articles of the statutes. These changes were approved unanimously.
DELF exam was a resounding success with 209 students registering for DELF A1, A2, B1 and B2 to validate their knowledge and obtain a diploma that is recognized worldwide.
To give a festive look to the end of this session, students of different levels will present an extravaganza of songs, skits and dances on September 18, 2010.
Registration for the fourth session will begin on September 1st. Talk around yourself and encourage your friends and relatives to register for French courses.
Every year in September, the film festival "Indian Panorama 2010", organized by the Department of Information and Navadharshan Association offers a selection of films from across the country. This overview allows us to open a new perspective on contemporary society. This apart, the regular event of Sunday Cinema this month is devoted to three Indian films.
The puppeteers of the Coupoussamy Puppet Show have a room dedicated to the shadow theater, a traditional art that is typical of South India.
Replacement for Michel Houdayer, Director of the Alliance Française
Mr. Fabrice Mongiat is appointed Director of the Alliance Française of Pondicherry and will take up duties in the coming days. He would be heading the cultural and educational policy of the institution from now on. I thank you in advance for the warm welcome you would extend to my successor and his family.
